Georgian Democracy Initiative, Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association, Social Justice Center, Rights Georgia and Human Rights Center are implementing a joint project titled “Legal Aid Network for Activists” with the support of Open Society Georgia Foundation.

The short-term goal of the project is to protect activists from illegal persecution, thereby supporting the development of a friendlier environment for civic activism and enjoyment of freedom of expression and assembly.

The partner organizations have established a legal aid network to achieve the above mentioned objective. Lawyers from each organization are involved in the project providing activists with legal consultations in their relations with law enforcement bodies and courts as well as representing their interests before common courts.

Legal aid is being provided in the following regions and towns:

  • Rights Georgia, Social Justice Center, Georgian Democracy Initiative – Tbilisi.
  • Human Rights Center – Tbilisi, Imereti, Samegrelo.
  • GYLA – Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Telavi, Ozurgeti, Gori, Rustavi.
