On February 15, 2014, in the office of the Young Pedagogues’ Union in Ozurgeti, Georgian Democracy Initiative held a discussion on the issues of the prohibition of discrimination and tolerance. The discussion was led by a lawyer of Georgian Democracy Initiative (GDI), Giorgi Mshvenieradze, and philosopher Levan Ghambashidze.
The aim of the meeting was to hold discussions in Georgia’s regions on such issues as the prohibition of discrimination, tolerance, and secularism as a principle of state governance. The discussion participants talked about the situation that exists in the Guria region and in Georgia in general in terms of tolerance, minority rights, and the mechanisms of their protection.
The meeting was attended by pupils of graduating classes, teachers, representatives of the non-governmental sector, and journalists.
The discussion was held in the framework of the “Support to the Advancement of Human Rights in Georgia” project which is funded by the government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
