A training for teachers of civic education

On April 27, 2015, in the office of the Union of Democrat Meskhs in Akhaltsikhe, NGO Georgian Democracy Initiative held a training on the issues of teaching the protection of human rights for teachers of civic education.   

The training was led by Giorgi Mshvenieradze, a lawyer and a member of the board of the Georgian Democracy Initiative.

The training aimed at helping the teachers of civic education from the ethnically and religiously diverse region to teach human rights, tolerance, prohibition of discrimination, and principles of equality. 

The training involved teachers of civic education of the public schools of the town of Akhaltsikhe; the villages of Skhvilisi, Ghreli, Minadzi, and Muskhi of the Akhaltsikhe Municipality; the settlement of Adigeni; the village of Khevasheni of the Adigeni Municipality; the town of Vale; and the villages of Rustavi and Atskviti of the Aspindza Municipality. The participants were awarded with certificates and copies of video lessons on the topics of “Equality and Tolerance” and “From Dignity to Right” which had been prepared by the Georgian Democracy Initiative.

 

The training was held in the framework of the project “Improving tolerance, religious freedom and human rights in Georgia” which is being implemented with the funding of the Human Rights Fund of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
